NYTS Graduate: 1987 EMPLOYER: Philliber Research Associates Mika'il DeVeaux is from the Village of Harlem in New York City. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Bernard M. Baruch College (CUNY), a Masters of Professional Studies from the New York Theological Seminary, and a Master of Arts degree from the College at New Paltz (SUNY). Mr. DeVeaux has published papers in, 'New Directions in Evaluation: A Publication of the American Evaluation Association,' 'Journal of Offender Rehabilitation,' and 'Crescent International' (1988). Mr. DeVeaux has presented papers at the 45th (1993) and 46th (1994) Annual Meeting of the American Society of Criminology and co-authored a paper presented at the Annual Conference of the American Public Health Associate (1995), as well as publishing a book of poems and has had several others featured in various publications. With the exception of attending Baruch College, Mr. DeVeaux made all of these accomplishments during the 25 years he was incarcerated in New York State maximum-security prisons. Currently, Mika'il Deveaux is Vice President of Citizens Against Recidivism, where he engages in outreach, program development, referrals and counseling. Their mission is to facilitate the transition of citizens released from prison and help in the restoring of all rights and attributes of citizenship. Mika'il is also a data analyst for Philliber Research Associates in New York City, where he is involved in the evaluation of community-based organizations, analyzing data and writing reports describing populations served and program outcomes.
